Makers of Melbourne

Welcome to Makers Of Melbourne – the ‘go to’ guide for our technically integrated age.

Makers Of Melbourne has been created to consume and assimilate Melbourne culture. We're male focussed, but not male specific, sorting through the dross to weed out the creative stars, standout events and stylish folk that make this city unique.

MOM aims to embrace all facets of what makes this city a creative hub. Our aim is to inform without condescending – to keep you abreast of what’s going on without regurgitating Press Releases & to seek out this city’s sub cultures to give our readers the inside scoop on what’s REALLY happening with the people who make Melbourne Melbourne.

Event: Royal Botanic Runway

The inaugural Royal Botanic Runway transformed the majestic Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne into an international runway event on the evening of Thursday, 30 January 2014.

This charity event featured world-renowned Australian designers: Akira Isogawa, Aurelio Costarella, Collette Dinnigan and Martin Grant, who each produced stunning pieces to be worn by over sixty local and international models.

But it wasn't just on the catwalk that the best of Melbourne style was evident with the boys also turning out to support the charity fashion parade.

Thenis Y-3 Hightop

We couldn't let Thenis walk past us on Swanston street without capturing his unique Adidas x Yōji Yamamoto high-tops. It seems nowadays high end fashion label x sneaker brand collabs are a dime a dozen, but the Y-3 label is this year celebrating its 10 year anniversary. No matter your fashion preferences, you have to admire a brand (& the men) pushing the boundaries on mens footwear.

Anseu Rocks Louboutin Rantus

We begged Anseu for his photograph after spying his funky gold glitter mid top trainers, even before we realised they were the product of the crown prince of statement footwear - Christian Louboutin. The Rantus Glitter sneaker is trimmed in electric blue suede. This is certainly not a shoe for the faint hearted!

Tyson Losers Uneaker

We loved Tyson's whole act this week.  Caught having a sneaky day off in Melbourne with his fiancee, Tyson's relaxed style and attention to detail made for an eclectic mix.  We especially love the English country gent upper-half with the Shibuya bottom half.  Losers Uneaker 'Shark'

Givenchy High Tops

We chased Qing Liang down Flinders Lane after spying him from across the street. We didn't need to know that these black leather sneakers were new season Givenchy Star-Detail Leather High-Top's to be able to tell that this was some seriously luxe footwear worth shooting.

Khaled Puma x McQueen

Northcote Supper Club owner Khaled had just come from a game of tennis when we spotted him walking back to his Vespa down Royal Lane in the Melbourne CBD. Wearing a pair of Puma x Alexander McQueen street climb lo's, we admired Khaled's striking, yet casual Summer style.
