These limited edition hi-tops from the Vault footwear series are made in partnership between Vans and luxury Italian shoe brand Diemme. The California skate heritage of classic Vans has been combined with Italian shoemaker Diemme's materials and handmade techniques.
We bumped into James yesterday as he was whipping around town running errands before heading overseas to attend the wedding of a friend. A Sydney 'expat' now enjoying the Melbourne life, James is very much our type of man. Full of character and energy, and always well put together. His beautifully cut and understated three-piece, the full knit tie and of course a classic chestnut Dior derby to bring it all together on a wild and wet Melbourne morning.

The beauty of Melbourne is in the intimacy of the city and the colour and personality we seem to kick out of such a small space. As much as we have worked hard to capture the style of the city's men and all this fantastic footwear hitting our shores, sometimes it's good to be reminded that a well-cut pair of RM's and decent 'give-a-fuck' attitude has always been a cornerstone of Melbourne's culture. James is another Shoemakers All-star but we couldn't resist getting another shot of him in his Cole Haan perforated leather boots with neon pink welt.
We are loving this high-end American boot culture that seems to be becoming a staple of our Melbourne men. Maybe it's a more utalitarian version of the Goodyear-welted British boots we loved so much last winter. The highest-quality USA hand-made versions from American bootmaking legends Wolverine and Redwing are obvious favourites, and deservedly so. James pulling it all together very nicely this week.
