Street Style: Wei Casual Weekday

Welcome to Makers Of Melbourne – the ‘go to’ guide for our technically integrated age.
Makers Of Melbourne has been created to consume and assimilate Melbourne culture. We're male focussed, but not male specific, sorting through the dross to weed out the creative stars, standout events and stylish folk that make this city unique.
MOM aims to embrace all facets of what makes this city a creative hub. Our aim is to inform without condescending – to keep you abreast of what’s going on without regurgitating Press Releases & to seek out this city’s sub cultures to give our readers the inside scoop on what’s REALLY happening with the people who make Melbourne Melbourne.

The men of London turned it on as our intrepid photographer hit the streets to document the best looks of the season during a fly-in, fly-out visit as the UK winter turns to spring: the kilt gets an urban makeover, tan shoes retain their dominance and a vermillion trench pops in a sea of navy.
“The old cliché, shoes make the man, is true with Paul Smith: as a brand and as a product it’s about pedigree, longevity and quirky elegance. To me a good shoe is comfortable, fun and non-conformist. It's a vehicle of self-expression."

Donni was on a brief visit home to Melbourne between projects in Bali and Bangkok when we bumped into him this week. Despite spending the better part of 10 years in Asia steering some of the best clubs, he clearly hasn't forgotten how to run the classic Melbourne winter look. It was the superbly cut denim trench that caught our attention, but as we got talking we could see the whole package was a quintessentially Melbourne streetwear masterclass. The sharply cut black calf Chelsea's just reminding us how easy good style can be.
We busted Melbourne brothers Jim & Tony on a little mid-week shopping spree yesterday and couldn't resist their infectious energy for style. The boys told us they are exploring their tastes and favourite labels - believe us when we say they were human encyclopedia's of cool. Clearly both have a taste for quality footwear. Jim is wearing a limited edition suede Roux derby by Loake Bros & Tony his favourite, a Common Projects polished binder derby. Long Live Melbourne Style.
We bumped into James yesterday as he was whipping around town running errands before heading overseas to attend the wedding of a friend. A Sydney 'expat' now enjoying the Melbourne life, James is very much our type of man. Full of character and energy, and always well put together. His beautifully cut and understated three-piece, the full knit tie and of course a classic chestnut Dior derby to bring it all together on a wild and wet Melbourne morning.
Thian is brand manager of Losers Sneakers. We photographed him outside of 'Up There' store in South Melbourne where he, along with designer Motoki Takanaka were preparing for the launch party of their SS13 collection. Thian was wearing the Losers Schooler Lo.
Peter certainly stood out in the corporate CBD lunch crowd & when he also told us his Reebok “Galaxy” EX-O-FIT sneakers glowed in the dark, there was no chance we were going to pass up a pic. Our second Atmos collaboration shoe this week!
It's been an extremely mild Autumn in Melbourne, which has given us snappers a fantastic array of colours, texture and style. We feel like we are witnessing the rise and rise the 'Australian Man' in fashion terms - equal parts attentive, indifferent and unique. Pio just about summed up Autumn this week, spotted wearing a palatte of colour and style that has defined Autumn 2013. Sure, the good shoes bring it all together, but the attention to detail is what makes it all so relaxed.
Andy is the owner of renowned Adelaide menswear store Right Hand Distribution (with whispers of a Melbourne RHD soon to open). We photographed Andy outside De Clieu in Fitzroy wearing a striking pair of boots designed in collaboration between Clarks Originals and cult Japanese label Atmos.
